How to Track Progress on Goals

In Resilia, tracking the progress of your goals is seamless and intuitive. To view the details of each goal and track its progress, follow these 2 simple steps:

Step 1: Opening Goal Details

  1. Locate the goal you want to track progress on and open its details
  2. If you want to add updates to your goal, add comments, or simply communicate an idea on that goal, you should click the Comments tab.

  3. If you need to track your quantitative progress to your progress chart. Click on the Progress Chart tab, and you will be able to add data points, and visualize your progress in multiple ways.

Step 2: Track Your Progress

There are three effective ways to track progress towards your goals in Resilia:

  • Add Written Updates for Qualitative and Quantitive goals
    • Add a written update to your goal by clicking the 'Add Comment' button in the Comments Tab and typing a brief update.
  • Add Data to the Progress Chart for Quantitive goals
    • Track progress toward your goal by clicking the 'Add Data' button on the Progress Chart Tab, and inputting the total value for what you're measuring since you started tracking the measure.
      • For example, let's say you started tracking program participants on July 1, 2022, you had 100 participants by Dec 31, 2022, and then you had 200 additional participants from Jan 1, 2023 to now. When you add a data point for today, you would enter 300 participants as the total.
    • To streamline data entry, we suggest creating a goal with an initial value of zero and entering totals for the end of each month historically since you’ve been working towards this goal.  This approach eliminates the need for heavy manual data input, while still enabling the app to generate visually appealing infographics ready for sharing.
  • Add and Complete Tasks for Qualitative and Quantitative Goals
    • Add Tasks to goals by clicking the 'Add Task' button under the Tasks tab, naming your task, and optionally assigning a team member who is responsible for completing this task. The assigned user will receive an email notification letting them know they've been assigned a new task.
    • Once any task is complete, mark the task as complete by checking the box next to the task.

How Progress is Calculated

The progress percent for each goal is shown in the goal summary view and when 'Share Progress' is selected to generate a progress infographic. The progress calculation has 3 components:

  1. Starting value - This is the starting value entered in goal setup or the first data point entered. The start value can be zero.
  2. Target - This is the target total or percent your organization is aiming to reach
  3. Latest value - this is the latest value entered

Progress is calculated as the percent to the target based on the starting value. Consider the examples below:

  • Starting value = 0, Current value = 50, Target = 100 then the Progress is 50%
  • Starting value = 20, Current value = 40, Target = 100 then the Progress is 25%
    • This is because the change needed is 100 - 20 = 80 and the progress to made is 40 - 20 = 20, so the progress percent is 20/80 = 25%.

The Importance of Updating Goals

Regularly updating your goals based on progress is vital for tracking your organization's growth and impact. These updates make it easier to demonstrate and share your accomplishments with stakeholders, showcasing your success.
